A total of sixteen (16) students from the Northern Marianas College have successfully participated in two experiential learning field trips in Japan, hosted by the NextGen Program, with a dedicated focus on solid waste management, food science, and sustainable agritourism. The first field trip took place throughout various parts of Fukuoka, Japan, and the second field trip took place throughout Hokkaido, Japan. 

Ambrosio “Ambi” Alubia, an established farmer residing on Rota who exports produce to Guam and Saipan, has witnessed significant success in the growth of his papaya fruits following his participation in the Northern Marianas College Cooperative Research, Extension, and Education Services’ Regenerative Agriculture Workshops along with technical assistance provided by CREES personnel.

On May 24, 2024, hundreds of community members on Rota gathered at Chamorro Village for the Luta Ag Fair to celebrate the island's agricultural producers. Students from Rota's public schools observed the colorful, award-winning produce displayed at the fair. Local farmers and ranchers showcased their livestock, ornamentals, and produce, providing an opportunity to highlight their agricultural work and dedication. The event allowed participants to view and appreciate the products of Rota's agricultural industry.

FIVE of the six CNMI youth delegates to the National 4-H Conference held in Arlington, Virginia last month conducted a press conference on Thursday, May 9, to discuss the impact of their participation on the national organization and the local 4-H chapter. 

AT a recently concluded regenerative agricultural workshop hosted by Northern Marianas College-Cooperative Research, Extension, and Education Services, guest speaker Dr. Craig Elevitch discussed agroforestry with island residents. 

THE second day of a planning meeting to execute the CNMI Green Growth Initiative took place Wednesday, March 27 at the Saipan World Resort Royal Taga Ballroom.
